Welcome to Christ Church, Coventry

Christ Church has a long history as one of the churches forming the three spires of Coventry. However, following the destruction of the Church in 1941 only the spire remains on the old site - and is now a cafe.

The modern Christ Church lies a few miles south of the city centre in Cheylesmore (pronounced Charles-more) and dates from 1958.

If you are a visitor to Coventry we will be pleased to welcome you to our services and you will find that we are conveniently located for many of the hotels and guest houses on the South of the city.

Cheylesmore is an area that attracts a number of students from both the Coventry and Warwick Universities. If you are a student who would like to worship in a community with a diversity of ages, you are especially welcome.

Details of the services are published for four months at a time and you can find the current listings for the morning and evening services by selecting the appropriate button on the left.

Our morning services all commence at 10.30 am, except for Christmas Day (8.30 Communion and 10.30 All Age Worship). Sunday Praise embodies elements from an earlier All Age Worship Service and Morning Prayer. Under 15’s are present for the first part of the morning services and then retire to their groups within the adjacent church centre.

The evening services commence at 6.30 unless otherwise indicated.

The Holy Communion services are Common Worship Orders One or Two in contemporary English. Communicant members of other denominations, who are of good standing in their own church, are most welcome to participate in all Holy Communion services.

There are no midweek services apart from Christmas Day, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

The congregation is blessed with a number of gifted musicians. An excellent music group (organ, piano, keyboard, bass and acoustic guitar, flute, violin and drums) leads the morning worship. The style of music encompasses old and new and draws heavily on Mission Praise. New material is regularly introduced. The organ is played at the evening service.

The church has had an Evangelical tradition since 1885 and the emphasis continues to be on the Bible and the gospel; personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour; and active church membership.

Generally expository sermons are preached from the NIV Bible.

internalYou are warmly invited to worship with us.
